About Surfside Beach
Known as The Family Beach, Surfside Beach offers a relaxed coastal atmosphere with wide sandy beaches, beautiful ocean views, and easy access to both the Atlantic Ocean and nearby tidal creeks. Just north of Murrells Inlet, it’s a great destination for paddlers looking to explore quiet waterways, enjoy nature, or spend the day on the water before relaxing at one of the area’s local restaurants or parks.
Important Information:
The Atlantic Ocean along Surfside Beach is generally not recommended for beginner kayakers. Wind, waves, rip currents, and changing surf conditions can create hazardous paddling conditions, especially during the summer when beach traffic is heavy. If you choose to paddle in the ocean, always wear a life jacket, stay close to shore, watch the weather, and be aware of swimmers, surfers, and fishing piers. For a calmer and more scenic experience, many local paddlers prefer the protected creeks and marshes around Murrells Inlet.
