Murrells Inlet is one of the Southeast’s best-kept secrets — a place where the tidal creeks run deep, the fishing is world-class, and the restaurants know how to cook fresh seafood the right way.
But finding your way around takes local knowledge. Where do you actually launch? Which guides are worth the money? Where do you tie up and eat? Which restaurants are worth the wait?

Murrells Inlet Kayak is written and run by Whitney Messervy, who has paddled the creeks and marshes of Murrells Inlet for over 30 years. Nothing here is syndicated or scraped: the launch-site notes, the tide advice, and the operator listings all come from time on this water.
We’re not a rental shop or a tour company. Businesses can buy an upgraded listing (see our Terms of Use), but who we recommend comes down to current customer reviews. That’s what lets us say plainly which trips are worth your money and which launch to skip at low tide.

Whitney picks the rental companies based on their current customer reviews. What that looks like in practice:
- The operator is currently in business and actively running trips or rentals on the Grand Strand corridor, Surfside Beach to Litchfield.
- Current customer reviews decide who gets listed and recommended.
- Listed prices, hours, and offerings are checked against the operator’s own website.
- Every listing links to the operator’s own phone number and website, so you book with them directly — we never sit in the middle.
